Step Forward, Step Back

Six days after his first walk, Noah continues to make progress--on the crawling front. He's overcome his fear of grass, which he's now happy to romp through on all fours. The paths of Rittenhouse Square have become highways for his clambering freestyle. Waggling his behind, tossing his head back and forth as he churns the limbs, he imbues the whole endeavor with a quality spectators recognize unmistakeably as swagger.

As far as Noah is concerned, walking is just too, well, pedestrian.

It's our fault. We rewarded his inaugural attempt with the beer bottle that motivated it. It was a 12-ounce Dogfish Head Aprihop, and it was empty. Or so we thought. It now seems clear that there was enough residual alcohol to wipe the bipedal memory right out of his head.

The photographic record does not lie. First, as you can see above, he was merely happy with his prize. Then, all of a sudden he's the life of the party, making unintelligible toasts and reveling in the hilarity:

But it never ends there, does it? If the jokes are funny after one pull on the bottle, imagine how comical they will be after a second. And a third. Pretty soon, you're going after the juice with unseemly desperation.

And such does the backsliding begin.
